It includes a live preparation of Windows Server 2008 R2 in my VMware Workstation, as well as an actually installation. Make sure you watch it before trying it out in your office to save yourself some downtime, not to mention headaches!! 🙂

I think you are probably the only one in the whole who can help me at this point. I would appreciate your help WHEN you have a moment concerning the Revit Server setup.
I have followed your instruction to a “T”. I feel I am successful at the server end.
Yes, unfortunately I’m using Windows Server 2008 64 bit R2, but you are too! 🙂 I can get the Revit Server Admin to function correctly on both the server and workstation. I am using a VPN connect to my CENTRAL REVIT SERVER and my server is the Local Revit Server. My problem is when I try to “Connect to Server” it is always not available. I’ve check the Revit software updates. Update 2 and Advanced service pack. Am I missing something obvious? One last thing, I’ve turned off firewall and virus software at all levels. Please Help! Thank you very much for your time. If possible could you reply via email. Rick Morris

. . . I may have helped myself out alittle bit. On a whim I decided to VPN to the CENTRAL REVIT SERVER for the local workstation! Whalaa! It worked, but I’m smart enough to know having two VPN connections in NOT the thing to do. So, I guess I’ll try setting up the VPN connection on our ROUTERS. That might do it. Any other comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening . . . 🙂
Rick, make sure you establish “allow policy” connections on your firewall between workstation local Revit Server central Revit Server. A lot of times, when the connections and permissions aren’t set up, you wouldn’t be able to access RSA. Also, since you’re accessing Silverlight, you might need to make the Revit Servers “trusted sites” from each other so they can “run.” Hope that helps!
